{ABOUT ROBIN'S NEST}

Eighteen years ago, when my kids were just starting kindergarten, I decided to do the craftshow at the elementary school that my first child had started at. Busy creating and painting, with the kids makiing stuff right along with me, I enjoyed my first little 'store' with my creations, my dad's creations and my kids' creations. The second year I participated in the show, my dad made me my egg-shaped sign for me to paint for my booth (which is now my store sign), and my kids, loving helping out the year before, made their own art piece's which the teacher's were so kind to buy (thrilled my kids!). Thus begun Robin's Nest, a compiliation of my nest (family's) artwork. I always paint my nests with 3 eggs to represent my 3 kiddo's, and of course robin's egg blue is always my favorite, I guess you would call it, my signature color... When all the kids were in school full-time, I pursued my own painting business painting murals and faux finishing for many people in the surrounding Omaha area....lot's of painted tree's out there..lol. after 15 years of that, I decided to get a 'real' job and worked at a garden center where I became the giftshop manager/buyer/merchandiser for their 5,000 sq. ft. gift area. I loved that for 6 years and enjoyed going to market to buy in Atlanta, Chicago and Baltimore, learning that side of the retail business. After much thought, I decided I needed a change and to pursue something that was for myself. I started hitting the thriftstore's and painting up un-loved items to make some beautiful creations. I had the great fortune to be able to do the very first Junkstock in Omaha, a great junking festival, in June of 2012 and then again in October. With many great comments and people buying my inspirations, I started kicking around the idea of my own store. After looking in Papillion and Bellevue, my husband suggested Springfield, so went looking and fell in love with the small town that is only 5 miles from West Omaha, and 5 miles from Louisville....perfect fit for me. I fell into a terrific storefront and have enjoyed so much the town and the people that have come to visit me at my store....it's been quite the journey and it isn't over yet! Hope you have the chance to visit me in person or visit my facebook page (www.facebook.com/springrobinsnest) where I am quite active answering and visiting with people. Thanks for taking the time to read this...always spread your smile and 'Think outside the box' !

-Robin
